On June 29, 2015, the Montgomery County Board of Education approved significant changes to Policy JHC Child Abuse and Neglect. The policy guides Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) procedures and protocols for recognizing, reporting, and preventing suspected child abuse and neglect of students. Over the last year, MCPS has engaged in a multipronged, multidisciplinary effort to implement new practices, procedures, and protocols to ensure students have a safe environment to learn.
MCPS requires that all volunteers who regularly work with children in MCPS participate in an online training on Child Abuse and Neglect. Parents serving as chaperones on field trips MUST complete the training. Volunteers must complete the training before they can volunteer in schools. Confirmation of completion of the course will be sent via email once the course is completed. Volunteers must bring this confirmation to school when they come to volunteer in order to work with students. The link to the training is https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/childabuseandneglect/
Please be advised that the system that houses the training cannot collect data from iPhones or iPads. To complete this training, you will need to use a laptop or desktop.
Please contact the school if you have any questions.
