Dear Watkins Mill Families,
Welcome to the 2018 -2019 school year! The new school year represents a rebirth. It offers an opportunity for new experiences, new relationships, new knowledge, and new skills for all of us. The start of a new school year is an exhilarating and exciting time for me. It never gets old.
Whether you are a new Watkins Mill family or a returning family, the year ahead will be a rewarding experience for your child. we know we speak for the entire staff when we say that we are committed toward working with, understanding, and nurturing each and every child to meet their academic and just as important, social and emotional needs. Nothing less is acceptable.
We want to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Gecoma and Ms. Salas who have been working diligently to update student records, unpack supplies, order materials, and doing those thousand and one other things that need to be done prior to the start of a new school year. The building services team has done an outstanding job in preparing the school for the students.
The responsibility for providing an environment where each child feels safe, is valued and respected, finds a love of learning, and is challenged and supported to reach his or her potential is both challenging and rewarding. As a staff, we all work together as a team with a common vision, but the success of our efforts is in no small part determined by how we work and communicate with parents. We encourage you to continue to be partners with us in your child's education. We ask that you make a commitment to join the PTA, volunteer, attend a parent workshop, etc. We need you. Multiple studies show that the more parents are involved in their child's school, the higher achieving their children become.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We can be reached by phone at
301-840-7181. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
