WGESPTA

What does the PTA do?

The PTA supports our school in many ways.

In the past, we have raised funds to support so many activities, such as:

·        bringing cultural arts performances to the school

·         sponsoring a Thanksgiving feast for the school community

·         bringing enriching science programs to the school

·         arranging for foreign language classes before school

·         arranging for science activities after school

·         arranging for class parties on Halloween and Valentine’s Day

·         supporting a huge pumpkin patch at the school in the fall

·         providing a Literary Magazine which showcases the work of
          every child at the school

·         providing support for school field trips

·         supporting an artist-in-residence, and

·        arranging a spring fair for the school community.

We also:

·        help deliver breakfasts to classrooms every morning

·        decorate the school bulletin board

·        help prepare materials for classroom use by teachers

·        help in every day school activities, from classroom support,
to helping on vision and hearing screening  days

·        show the WGES staff how much we appreciate them

·        hold meetings where parents can get to know each other,
speak with the principals, learn more about the school and
its staff, and learn about the PTA activities

·        hold an Ice Cream Social at WGES

And new events and ideas are always welcome!

We hold fundraisers to support these activities, such as a Sally Foster sale, a Scholastic Book Fair, a fruit sale, and an election day bake sale.
