Math Notes
Welcome to Quarter Three! Be on the look-out for the MCPS quarterly math updates your child's teacher will be sending home. These updates share what your child will be learning in school during this quarter as well as presenting ideas for what you may be able to do at home to support the classroom instruction. We will also be sharing third quarter math strategies during the Principal's Coffee on Friday, February 5 th at 9:00.
Our students have continued to show their basic fact speed and accuracy by participating in Strathmore's 4-Star General program. Please continue helping your child "move on to the next level" by having him/her practice his/her basic facts for 5-10 minutes several times a week! Students should enter third grade proficient in all single digit addition and subtraction facts, and by the end of third grade students should be proficient in all single digit multiplication facts and their related division facts. These basic facts are the cornerstone of a student's ability to calculate and reason with multi-digit numbers as he/she moves through elementary school.

GT Notes
Our InView rescreening and "new to MCPS" testing was completed in December for all students with parent permission. Assessments are scored outside of MCPS and results will not be back until late March or early April. The InView score data along with other data points will be reviewed by the GT Committee and parents will receive a decision letter in mid-May.
