Welcome to Poolesville Elementary School, home of the Tigers! My name is Doug Robbins and I am excited to begin my eighth year as principal at PES. During my tenure here, I have been overwhelmed by the unwavering commitment of our staff and parent community in providing our students with unlimited opportunities for academic and social growth. I couldn’t ask for a better place to work and feel extremely fortunate to be a part of such a dynamic school community.
Personally, I was born in Pittsburgh, PA and raised in Bucks County, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia. This fact explains my mixed allegiances to both cities as I am an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Phillies, Flyers and 76ers. College brought me to Maryland as I studied elementary education at the University of Maryland, College Park before receiving my master’s degree in administration and supervision at Western Maryland College (McDaniel College). I have worked in six elementary schools in Montgomery County serving as a 3rd and 4th grade teacher, staff development teacher and assistant principal prior to my current role.
I am married to my wife Andrea and we live with our two children in Frederick County, Maryland. My wife and I met when we taught together at Rosemont Elementary School in Gaithersburg. Currently she teaches pre-school and plans to re-enter the public education workforce in the next year. Our son Chase, who will be in 2nd grade this school year, loves playing, watching and talking sports, much like his father! Maggie, our daughter, will be entering kindergarten and loves dressing up, practicing gymnastics and dancing. As a family we love to spend time together outside and attending all Maryland Terrapin home football games.
For those of you who are new to our community, I look forward to getting to know you and your children and I look forward to continuing relationships with those who are returning Poolesville Elementary School families. We all have a lot to look forward to! This is destined to be the best year yet!
