Welcome to Roscoe R. Nix Elementary School. We are looking forward to working with you and your children. My name is Annette M. Ffolkes and I have been serving as the principal of Roscoe R. Nix Elementary School since we opened in August 2006. This year we welcome Mrs. Emily Madan as our new Assistant Principal. Mrs. Madan may be familiar to many of you since she previously served as the Assistant Principal of Cresthaven Elementary School. We are excited to have her join our staff!

We should be inspiring children to discover their passions and realize their potential all year long."

-Evans & Boulay, June 2017

Roscoe R. Nix Elementary School, along with Arcola Elementary School, has been selected to implement an innovative school calendar initiative. The initiative will extend the school year from 180 days to 210 days to create additional learning time for students so they can reach their full potential and achieve at the highest levels. Research identifies increased/expanded learning time as an equity strategy that benefits all children, especially children who are traditionally served at Title I schools. We believe this innovative calendar initiative is exactly what our students need to ensure they have the resources they need to succeed. While the Innovative Planning Team continues to work on finalizing many of the details, we will be inviting you to attend informational meetings during the school year to learn more about the initiative and ask questions. The Innovative School Calendar has a start date of July 2019.  Click here to read more information from Dr. Smith regarding the Innovative Calendar.

Our teachers are working hard to ensure that your children receive an effective instructional program, with daily opportunities for reading, writing, mathematics and student discourse. Our Superintendent, Dr. Jack Smith, has also charged each school to address two important questions: Are our children learning? & Are our children learning enough? The best way to address these questions is by continually improving teaching and learning in order to provide a strong academic program for ALL students.

Every student matters - ALL means ALL!
