Year in Review and School Improvement Planning for 2026-2027

As we close another successful school year at Lakelands Park Middle School, I want to thank our students, staff, families, and community partners for their collective efforts in supporting our School Improvement Plan (SIP) goals and our mission of Building a community of belonging and high expectations where we become life-long, independent learners.

This year, our work focused on increasing student achievement while ensuring every student felt seen, valued, and supported. Through initiatives such as PACT literacy strategies, Mathematical Language Routines, co-teaching, support for multilingual learners, Project Interrupt, Falcon Bucks, and our continued focus on belonging and school culture, we made meaningful progress toward our goal of earning a 4-star rating on the Maryland School Report Card. We celebrated growth in student achievement, improvements in school climate, and countless examples of students rising to meet high expectations both inside and outside the classroom.

While we are proud of our accomplishments, we know our work continues. This summer, our leadership team will review data, celebrate successes, and update our School Improvement Plan for the coming year. Our planning will align with the MCPS instructional focus:

"All students will be prompted to think effortfully in order to meet or exceed grade-level standards."

As we look ahead, we are committed to creating learning experiences that challenge students to think deeply, engage meaningfully, and grow as independent learners while continuing to foster a strong sense of belonging for every member of our school community.

We welcome parents and caregivers to join us in this important planning process. If you are interested in participating in our SIP planning session on Monday, July 13, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. (tentative), please sign up here: https://forms.gle/PVqo5SbEbeDojC9DA

Thank you for your partnership and for helping us continue to make Lakelands Park Middle School a place where all students learn, belong, and thrive.
