Letters to President Obama
Ms. Applewhaite's class wrote letters to President Obama. The class compared the similarities and differences between their responsibilities as students to Mr. Obama's new responsibilities as President. Here are a few letters and illustrations reflecting their thoughts.

Dear President Obama,
On January 20th, you will take an oath as President of the United States. At our school, we take an oath to follow school standards. Here is how our oath is the same and different from yours. One way they’re different is that we don’t talk in front of anybody and you will talk in front of 3,000,000 people. Our oath is cool, but yours is cooler.
Our oath is: “I promise to take care of myself. Take care of our school, and to take care of each other.” I think your goes like this: “I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States and I will do the best of my ability to preserve, protect and defend the constitution of the United States."
I hope your 4 years go well.
Sincerely,
Alex

One way that it is different is we make and follow our class rules and you make and follow the laws and you also need to make sure that other people don’t break the laws.
I hope you have a great stay at the White House.
Love,
Allegra

Dear President Obama,
You are now the President of the USA. Your job is to be the President and my job is to be a student. You need to take care of the USA and we have to take care of ourselves, others, and our school. We have class rules and you have laws. We have to take care of school mates and you have to take care of citizens.
I hope you like your new job and have a great time being the President and living in the White House with your family.
From,
Carlos
