Principal's Message
I was born and raised in Prince George’s County, and spent my first five years as a teacher in PGCPS. When I transitioned to MCPS to be closer to home, I was hired as a classroom teacher at Germantown Elementary! I served the Germantown community for four years, as both a classroom teacher and staff development teacher before moving to other schools as a teacher and staff development teacher. I have been an administrator in MCPS for seven years. I have served as an assistant principal at Fox Chapel ES, principal intern at Watkins Mill ES, and the last four years as the principal of Rock Creek Valley ES. My past experiences have built my skills as a leader who is accessible, innovative, collaborative, and focused on student success. I look forward to focusing on these priorities as the new principal of GES.
On a personal note, I live in Urbana with my husband Mario. Our sons, Gus (24) and Diego (20) are pursuing a career and college respectively. We enjoy spending time as a family hiking and watching DC sports teams. I enjoy reading and baking in my spare time. My husband and I host an “Iron Chef” style cooking competition in our neighborhood which has become an annual event! Finding a balance between my personal life and the work I love allows me the energy and focus to prioritize the work we do for students each and every day.

In my spare time I enjoy traveling, reading, running, playing board games and attending my kids’ swimmeets. I am married to my wife, Sangeeta, who is a college professor. We have three wonderful daughters: Leela, Meera, and Eesha. |
