Reading Levels
Information on this page was obtained from the MCPS first grade curriculum guide. (Quarter 1 - Page 23)
The following chart indicates the reading target for each grade level, as defined by a student's ability to read leveled text with 90% accuracy and demonstrate comprehension orally and/or in writing, beginning at the end of kindergarten. The end of quarter goals help determine whether students are progressing sufficiently throughout the year to meet the end-of-year benchmark.
