Summer Reading 2026
As summer approaches, we encourage all students to stay connected to learning through reading! This year’s Booked for the Summer guide is filled with resources and ideas to help students continue growing during the summer months while also enjoying time to relax, recharge, and have fun with family and friends.
Getting started is easy. Just follow these steps, as outlined in the Booked for Summer guide:
- Set a summer reading goal—choose to read a certain number of books or track the amount of time you spend reading.
- Keep track of your progress using a reading log.
- Return to school in August ready to celebrate your accomplishments, share what you learned, and reflect on how you grew as a reader.
Students will learn about the Montgomery County Public Library Summer Reading Challenge through a presentation from an MCPL librarian on June 15. Students will be able to register to read and win free books and other prizes throughout the summer.
We hope you have a safe, relaxing, and joy-filled summer full of great books, new discoveries, and wonderful memories!
