Winter Break COVID Information and Quarantine Calculator
Dear Clarksburg Elementary School Parents/Guardians,
I would like to share some important information with you as students begin to enjoy their well-deserved Winter Break. It is possible that some students who are present at school this week may develop symptoms and test positive for the coronavirus shortly after the start of Winter Break. We will not have the ability to monitor any new cases that are reported, nor can we communicate any positive cases to families as we do when school is open. For those reasons, I urge you to monitor your child for symptoms throughout the Winter Break.
You can refer to the MCPS Winter Break Quarantine Calculator if your child tests positive for COVID or is exposed to someone who tests positive for COVID over Winter Break. If your child is exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID, he/she is able to take a PCR test on Day 5 or later. If the PCR test comes back negative, he/she is able to end his/her quarantine and return to school on Day 8.
Many of our students may visit with relatives, friends, or extended family over the Winter Break, thus exposing themselves to a larger group of people than usual. Unfortunately, this increases the risk of contracting the coronavirus. Therefore, it is important to monitor your child for symptoms as we all begin to return to school on January 3, 2022. If your child displays any symptoms, please keep them home until they are symptom-free or receive a negative PCR test.
As we prepare to return to school in January, please remind your child about frequent hand washing and sanitizing. Also, make sure your child has a properly fitting mask, brings at least one spare mask to school, and knows how to wear a mask appropriately. We all need to take responsibility for keeping ourselves and others healthy.
I wish your family a very happy and healthy New Year! Please contact the school if you have any questions or concerns. Take care and stay safe.
Sincerely,
Carl Robert Bencal, Principal
