MCPL Winter Reading Marathon
Here is the announcement from Montgomery County Public Libraries!
Winter READING is coming and this year we are challenging all ages to read a marathon worth of books between December 21, 2025 - February 28, 2026 during the MCPL's 2026 Winter Reading Marathon!
Registration opens on December 21. This winter, we are challenging all people of all ages to keep their minds active by reading a total of 26.2 hours! Everyone who signs up will receive a breakaway lanyard. For every four hours read, people will earn a button or brag tag to celebrate their winter reading journey.
Read an entire marathon worth of books (26.2 hours) and be automatically entered into a system-wide prize raffle and earn a voucher for one-free book from one of the Friends of the Library, Montgomery County, MD, Inc. bookstores.
They have a systemwide prize* for each of the following age groups: 0-5, 6-12, 13-18, and 19+
*All prizes are while supplies last.
