Dear Members of the WCHS Community,

We value the strong partnership between Winston Churchill High School and our surrounding community, and we are proud to share our facilities when it is possible to do so. To maintain a safe and respectful environment for everyone, we need to make you aware of some important changes regarding track access.

Effective immediately, access to the track will be limited for individual use and locked whenever staff are not present or during non-daylight hours.  These changes are necessary because, on multiple occasions, staff have been spoken to in an aggressive manner while attempting to secure the facility. This behavior is unacceptable and undermines the safe and welcoming environment we strive to maintain.

The school’s top priority is ensuring the safety of our students and staff, as well as preserving the availability of facilities for instructional and athletic purposes. Please remember:

• Individual and community use is not permitted during the instructional day, athletic practices/contests, or any school use.
• Individual use is also not permitted when a community group has obtained a permit through the Community Use of Public Facilities office.
• Outside of these times, the track will remain open for personal use when unlocked.
• Stadium field use is NEVER allowed without a permit from the Community Use of Public Facilities office.

General Track Use Hours

• Monday–Friday: 6:15–7:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.–dusk (when not in use by the school)
• Saturday: 7:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.; when staffed, the track will remain open until dusk
• Sunday: When staffed, the track will be open until dusk

Notice: Limited Availability Due to Increased School and Athletic Use

• August 15–Thanksgiving: Fall season practices and contests held outdoors daily
• November 15–March 14: Winter season practices and contests held mostly indoors
• March 15–Memorial Day weekend: Spring season practices and contests held outdoors daily
• School events utilizing outdoor facilities are scheduled throughout the year
