The PTA would like to commemorate this year's unique learning experience with a totally unique yearbook. This yearbook is particularly special for our 5th graders moving on to Middle School, so let's make sure our students are well represented. BES Fundraiser: Pennies For Patients
Burtonsville ES is partnering with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, an organization dedicated to eliminating blood cancers. Please visit, https://events.lls.org/pages/nca/BurtonsvilleElementarySchool-2021, to make a donation.
Instrumental Music
The last day for instrumental music was Thursday, May 27. Mrs. Ford is now preparing to collect all instruments and clean them according to guidelines. All BES musicians that borrowed an instrument with a label on the bottom of the case or who signed an MCPS Bond Form to receive the instrument, should return it to the school no later than Friday, June 4, 2021. Families with BES borrowed instruments that are not returned to the main office by June 4th will receive a bill for the total amount of the cost of the instrument. PLEASE DO NOT TURN IN INSTRUMENTS THAT YOU HAVE RENTED FROM THE MUSIC STORE OR PURCHASED. If you have any questions, please email Melinda_L_Ford@mcpsmd.org.
Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten registration is still open for parents looking to register their child for an MCPS kindergarten class for the 2021-2022 school year. If your child will be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2021, please call 240-740-4530 or visit the MCPS website for more information about eligibility guidelines, registrations, or required documents to complete an application.
Dates to Remember
- Monday, May 31 - Memorial Day Holiday - No school for students or staff
- Tuesday, June 1 - Friday, June 4 - A-Week for students in grades 4 and 5 (Ms. Stevenson, Mrs. Sansom, Mrs. Pearson, and Ms. Benjamin’s classes.)
- Tuesday, June 1 - Weekly COVID-19 pool testing. Please remember, if you do not complete the consent form, your child will not be able to participate in the testing. Parents only need to fill out a consent form once, and this will be effective for the remainder of the school year. Please complete the Student Health Questionnaire at the beginning of each week before sending your child to school.
