Overview
Wyngate Elementary School, located in the Walter Johnson cluster in Bethesda, Maryland, has a student body of highly motivated students with a desire to learn. Student enrollment, grades kindergarten through five, is approximately 600 students representing more than 28 countries.
The Wyngate building, constructed in 1952, was modernized during the 1996-97 school year. The new facility has renovated classrooms, a new administrative office, media center with computer lab, multi-purpose room and an inviting central entrance to the school.
There are normally four classes at each grade level, varying slightly each year based on changes in student population. Normally, class size ranges from 23 to 26 in kindergarten through grade three and from 22 to 29 in grades four and five. In addition to approximately twenty- five regular education classes, there is one intensity-four learning-disabled/gifted and talented classes for students grades 3 to 5.
Parents are very active as partners in the important job of educating their children. Parental support, involvement, and suggestions are welcomed by the faculty.
