MCPS Web Resources

The following online resources are available at school and at home. For home use you will need a password. See your media specialist for the passwords. (Grade Level Recommendations)

  • BrainPop (3-5) - creates animated, curriculum-based content that supports educators and engages students. Hundreds of topics within Science, Social Studies, English, Math, Technology, Arts & Music and Health are all brought to life through short, animated movies and related interactive quizzes and other features. 
  • BrainPopJr. (K-3) - animated, curriculum-based content for students in kindergarten through third grade.
  •  BrainPopEspanol - All the great BrainPop content in Spanish.  
  •  BrainPop ESL - Resources dedicated to teaching English to students using videos, games, quizzes and more!
  • Tumble Books (All Grades)
    An online collection of animated talking books. You can choose to have the books read to you or read them yourself.
  • PebbleGo (All Grades)
    Both an animal database and an Earth & Space database that is easily accessable to all.
    Culture Grams (Upper Elementary)
    Up to date information on 182 countries and cultures.  Categories include history, land and climate,  language, government, family, and even great recipes!
  • SIRS Discoverer (Upper Elementary)
    SIRS Discoverer provides access to periodical and newspaper articles selected by subject.
  • Teachingbooks.net 
    A literature resource created to generate enthusiasm for books and reading by bringing authors, illustrators and engaging resources about books for children together.
  • Encyclopedia Britannica .(Second Grade and Up)
    Four encyclopedias plus an Internet guide, atlas, and videos. Includes study guides and exercises
  • Enciclopedia Universal en Espanol 
    Britannica’s Spanish language encyclopedia.
  • Student NewsNet (Upper Elementary)
    Engages students with timely and relevant news.
  • NoodleTools (Upper Elementary)
    This resource assist students by generating bibliographies and notecards.
