2017–2018 School Year Calendar - Calendario Escolar 2017–2018

2017–2018 School Year Calendar The Montgomery County Board of Education has approved the calendar for the 2017–2018 school year. School will begin on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, and the last day of school is scheduled for Thursday, June 14, 2018. The Board also adopted a contingency plan that includes a total of seven identified dates that could be used as instructional days if necessary to make up school due to emergency and weather-related closings. Two of these days are the first two days of the scheduled spring break, March 26 and 27, 2018. The remaining five days would require the district to extend the school year until June 21, 2018.  Calendario Escolar 2017–2018  El Consejo de Educación del Condado de Montgomery ha aprobado el calendario para el ciclo escolar 2017–2018. Las clases comenzarán el martes, 5 de septiembre, 2017, y el último día de clases está programado para el jueves, 14 de junio, 2018. El Consejo adoptó también un plan de contingencias que incluye un total de siete fechas identificadas que podrían usarse como días lectivos si fuese necesario recuperar días de clase debido a cierres de emergencia o relacionados con el clima. Dos de estos días son los primeros dos días de las programadas vacaciones de primavera, el 26 y 27 de marzo, 2018.  Los cinco días restantes requerirían que el distrito extienda el ciclo escolar hasta el 21 de junio, 2018. 

Wheaton High School Presents: Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins!

Wheaton High School’s Drama Club invites you to their upcoming performance of Mary Poppins.  You will not want to miss one of our four shows April 5th, 6th, and 7th!SHOWTIMES All performances take place in the new, state-of-the-art Wheaton High School Auditorium.  Come see Mary Poppins on April 5th, 6th, and 7th at 7PM, and at our Saturday afternoon matinée on April 7th at 2PM.  The showtime run is approximately 60 minutes. MARY’S NURSERY Families are invited to arrive 45 minutes early to each show to play in Mary’s Nursery (located in the Student Activities Center, right next to the auditorium).  The drama club will provide activities for the whole family: pictures with characters, crafts, games, story time, and more! Open this announcement for additional information and flyers.

Preventing the Flu - Prevenir la Influenze

This year many of our students have been out sick with the flu. Open this announcement for information on how to prevent the flu. In addition, there is information on when to keep your child home from school. Keeping your child home until he or she is well is not only best for your child, but helps stop the spread of the flu.

Saturday School Returns February 3, 2018

Saturday School is back in session starting February 3, 2018. You can enroll at this time so open up this announcement to see all the flyers and registration forms. Also, Saturday School's STEM Curiosity Academy (Otra Vez - Academia de la Curiosidad de la Escuela de los Sabados!) returns on February 3rd. Registration is online and the link can be found by opening this announcement.

Digital Citizenship: Your Characters Count

MCPS launched a digital citizenship initiative, Digital Citizenship: Your Characters Count, in partnership with Common Sense Education that will provide students with the resources and information they need to behave safely and responsibly with technology and social media.

Media Center Open for Families

The Shriver Media Center is open every Tuesday for families from 3:25 to 4:30.
