About Our School
The Sherwood Community
Sherwood Elementary is part of the Olney, Ashton, Sandy Spring, and Brookeville community. Our school can trace its history back to 1883 with the opening of the Friends' School in Sandy Spring, Maryland. The Roberts family owned a property called Sherwood and donated a piece of their farm for the construction of this school. The school was named Sherwood after the property. The original elementary school was located on the grounds of Sherwood High. The current school was built in 1978.
