What’s happening in Kindergarten this quarter?
Here is what we are working on for the second quarter of the school year:
Academics
In reading, we are learning how to identify:
- story elements such as title, author, character, and setting
- a character's feelings
- initial consonants and ending patterns, and
- the sound and letter relationship.
We are learning how to identify and develop ideas and how to organize our writing so it has a beginning, middle, and end.
In math, we are working with numbers in a variety of ways. We are working on counting objects in a set and on identifying which set has more, less, or equal amounts of objects. We are practicing making the number 10 in a variety of ways. We also enjoy listening to the Big Number Song and counting from 1 - 100.
Our focus in science is on plant and animal life cycles. Ms. Reyes class made beautiful sunflowers and labeled them to show the different parts of the plant.
In social studies, we are learning about landforms and bodies of water.
Social and Emotional
We hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and enjoyed spending time reading and being with family and friends. Ms. Solender and Mrs. Kelly's classes made turkeys with their families and then brought them in to share. Everyone did a fantastic job!
Please remember to read with your child every night!
