Comprehension
We will be using text to identify characters, setting, and story lines.
Reading
We will be focusing on beginning reading strategies. Here are a few examples of ways you can practice this concept at home.
Ask your child to…
-Point to the title of the story.
- Point to a word.
- Point where you begin reading
- Touch the words as I read.
Writing
Our main focus is learning the proper letter formations. We will also be practicing writing our name using both upper and lowercase letters.
Math
We will be focusing on identifying positional words, shapes, sorting, graphing and building patterns. We will continue to work on counting, identifying, and writing our numbers to 30.
Homework
In October, we will begin sending homework Monday-Thursday in your child’s reading class. In order to develop healthy homework habits, please encourage your child to complete his/her homework. Also, please check your child’s Rock view folder on a daily basis. This is our main communication to parents.
