One School, Many Cultures, One Community

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and I’m looking forward to meeting you in person!  I am thrilled to join the Ritchie Park Elementary School (RPES) community in our efforts to provide the best possible educational experience for you and your child.

Although I am new to RPES, I bring a great deal of experience serving and supporting Montgomery County Public Schools.  For 16 years I taught in elementary and middle schools.  I also provided staff development to teachers in kindergarten through high school on improving student achievement with the use of technology.  In that position I worked with educators from other school systems, major universities and the Maryland State Department of Education.  I learned a great deal about curriculum and instruction that will compliment the successful programs here at RPES.

After training teachers, I began my administrative career.  I worked in central office supporting teachers and administrators in high poverty schools.  I missed working with students and decided it was time to return to a school.  I served as an assistant principal and principal intern learning the craft of leading a school.  I believe each of these experiences prepared me to be a successful school leader.  This summer has been an exciting time of leadership meetings, preparing the new portable classrooms and planning a rigorous and exciting instructional program.

A key component of a high achieving school is collaboration between staff, students, and community members.  If we haven’t met yet, I hope you will take a moment to introduce yourself to me when you are in the school.  I am happy to meet with parents whenever there is a concern or question.  I look forward to working with you to serve the students at Ritchie Park Elementary School.
