Goal
Our aims are to provide a unique opportunity to Parkland students to master computer skills in middle school before going to High School. We are interested in bringing students to demonstrate a real interest in learning not just the answers but the reasons behind those answers. Our MOTO is Critical Thinking * Problem Solving * Results
Courses Taught in the Department
Software Application by Design
Standards for this course target the mastery of fundamental operations and concepts of computers, word processing, presentation software and academic research techniques. This course will help students build a strong knowledge base and better prepare students for basic use of computers in their core content classes, personal computing needs and skills associated with career development.
In addition, this course will support the objectives of Parkland’s Aerospace Magnet Program through research and investigation of applications related to aerospace.
Introduction to Computer Science
This course introduces students to computer evolution and components. Students will study hardware, software, and explore their information. This is a hands-on-class where students will be required to complete lab assignments using commonly used applications, such as word processors, Internet browsers and search engines, spreadsheets and graphics presentations applications.
