Principal's Corner

Sunday Call to Families 5.14.18

Good evening Gladiator Families! This is your principal, Ms. Charley-Greene, with updates and reminders for the week of May 14.

Testing continues this week with the AP Biology exam and Algebra PARCC makeup test. The testing schedule can be found on the Northwood website. All test takers should get a good night’s sleep, have a light breakfast and arrive on time. You’ve got this, Gladiators!

Prom tickets are on sale during lunch in the Auditorium Lobby. Student obligations must be settled before ticket purchase. Outside guest forms must be faxed or emailed before the ticket purchase. Students are allowed one guest. After Prom tickets are also on sale. The afterprom is only steps away from the prom and will feature games, music, prizes and entertainers.

May 14 is the deadline for French Language students to apply for a two-week, no-cost trip to France. The exchange program is a partnership between the Northwood Educational Foundation and the Young Ambassadors for Community Service. Please contact Mr. Warrington with questions.

Tuesday, May 15, is the National Honor Society Induction Ceremony. New inductees should have received an invitation. Congratulations to these scholars!

Our PTSA meeting is also May 15. Please come elect next year’s executive board, celebrate school successes and hear important information about the end of the school year. The meeting is at 7:30 pm in the Media Center.

All graduating seniors will receive eight graduation tickets. Families may request extra tickets starting May 15. The ticket request form will be shared via Senior English classes, Canvas, ConnectEd call, and the school website. Access to this form will close on Thursday, May 24, at 3 pm. We will try our best to accommodate all requests in an equitable fashion.

Looking ahead, the week of May 21 we will follow a special testing schedule. ONLY students taking the HSA NSL (5/21) and the PARCC ELA (5/22-5/24) will report to school at 7:45 a.m. Transportation will run on a normal schedule. If your child does not have a test, but must arrive at 7:45 am due to transportation needs, he or she will have to report to study hall until the regular school day begins.

That’s it for this week’s updates and reminders. Have a great week!
