About Miss Alban

 Kristin Alban

Greetings Monocacy Bobcats! I am honored to be the new principal of Monocacy Elementary School. I am proud to be joining the team at Monocacy that believes all children will be successful. I look forward to working with a dedicated staff and community, continuing to provide all students with a positive educational experience through a high level instructional program.

I am a native of Montgomery County, raised in Damascus, Maryland, and a proud graduate of Damascus High School. I earned my Bachelor of Science from James Madison University in Virginia. I successfully completed the Master of Science in Deaf Education as well as my teaching certificate from McDaniel College. I secured my Administration and Supervision certificate from Towson University, and I am currently working to complete my Doctorate of Education from Bowie State University. In my 17 years as an educator, I have served in a variety of roles including a special education middle school teacher, fourth grade general educator, assistant principal, and principal. Most recently I have been the assistant principal at Lake Seneca Elementary School in Germantown.

I currently live in Clarksburg, Maryland, with my black lab Lucy. I am an avid hiker and skier. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, traveling, kayaking and taking photographs outdoors. I am also a big sports fan and love to watch the Ravens and Orioles!

I am excited to begin the next step in my professional career as principal of Monocacy ES. As your principal, my goal is to focus on effective communication, maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment, and making sure that our students continue to achieve at high academic levels. I will continue to build upon the successes at Monocacy while working to improve every day.  I am proud to be a Monocacy Elementary Bobcat!
