History
Monocacy Elementary opened the school year of 1961-1962 and is located in the agricultural reserve. There were approximately 236 students enrolled in Kindergarten through Sixth grade. Our current Kindergarten through Fifth grade enrollment is 169.
There was a two year renovation from 1988 – 1989. The school saw many new changes and additions as all the classrooms were remodeled and four new classrooms were added. In addition, a brand new full size gymnasium was added at the back and the library-media center was enlarged. The building is built in the shape of a “U” which is home to our beautiful court yard with a Butterfly Garden
in the middle. In the summer of 2009 our roof was renovated.
Monocacy Elementary celebrated its 25 th Anniversary in 1987 and we will celebrate our 50th Anniversary celebration in 2011- 2012. Parents, students and staff all look forward to many special events and activities to commemorate this special occasion.
