Garden with the Green Team
We are creating a pollinator garden to not only support our science curriculum, but to have an outdoor learning space for all. We need Planting Partners. Planting Partners help with the planting of our new shrubs and flowers in the garden area.
We also need Weed Warriors to help keep Lakewood looking lovely. Unfortunately, there are too many weeds growing in the sidewalk and around the shrubs and trees. Pulling weeds can be a fun project for anyone to do.
Related to the Weed Warriors are the Vine Vanquishers. It was a surprise to learn that the vines are crowding out and destroying our trees. Read this article: "These Weed Warriors attack invasive vines killing local trees" from The Washington Post.
Finally, if you want to help but working outside does not appeal to you, we also need Beautification Buddies. Beautification Buddies will create signs to identify trees and plants and paint rocks for our outside rock garden.
