 “Soaring to New Heights!”

Dear Lakewood Parents,

Welcome back students and parents!  I am thrilled to be returning to Lakewood with fresh and fun ideas for the upcoming school year!  The Art Program provides students with a greater knowledge and appreciation of artists, art styles, and art media, as well as reinforces the school curriculum within these projects.

Appropriate Art Clothes:  Every student has Art class once a week.  Art projects often get messy, please help your child in selecting appropriate clothes to wear on Art days.  While smocks are available for students to wear, they are not fool-proof.  Even when using washable paints, please be aware that not all paints wash out completely.

Volunteers:  Parents and Guardians are always welcome to help in the art room.  Art Room volunteers may be involved in duties such as hanging or taking down art displays or assisting students directly with tasks.  If you are interested in becoming a parent volunteer for the Art room, please send contact me through my school email:  Jill_N_McCowan@mcpsmd.org.

JUNK:  Your trash is our treasure.  Please feel free to send in clean recycled plastic containers with or without lids, newspapers, egg cartons, yarn, bottle caps, and any other clean items.
