Everybody Wins!
The Power Lunch Program
An inviting selection of books, two organized coordinators, amiable volunteers, and a group of eager students is the recipe of a very popular and successful program at Highland View, Everybody Wins! This non-profit children's literacy and mentoring program is committed to encouraging positive attitudes about reading in elementary school children. 38 students at Highland View eagerly participate in the Power Lunch Program. 49 volunteers from Discovery Communications, the Food and Drug Administration, and individuals from our community serve as mentors to our students. The mentors are paired with students and meet once a week during lunch to enjoy a good book and conversation. The program coordinator is Lyn McGann who works closely with Katie Ryan, our school coordinator.
