Celebrating Dr. Seuss's Birthday

The Reading committee had been meeting for weeks and were ready to unfold their plan. Furry friends amidst decorative posters, colorful balloons and dangling streamers proudly took their places in the display case, eagerly watching and waiting for a week of fun-filled events to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday on Read Aloud Day!
It all began with Ms. Dardarian’s lively reading of that Dr. Seuss’s tongue-twister, Fox in Socks to the entire school.

The very next day, students and staff caught the spirit and appeared wearing mixed-up, mis-matched socks!
And then, a mysterious creature wearing a red and white striped hat usually worn by Dr. Seuss’s Cat in the Hat character suddenly appeared in the school’s main lobby right before dismissal time.

It was our very own, Dr. Rosenkrans, relaxing in a rocking chair reading. There’s a Wocket in My Pocket to her 2 friends, the Cat in the Hat and Fox in Socks.

But they were not alone for long; groups gathered to lend a listening ear to hear her story.

Then, the most amazing thing happened! The tiniest white sparkling flakes silently drifted down, blanketing our entire county’s neighborhoods over the week-end. Children’s joyous shouts of “Yippee! It’s a Snow Day!” was heard throughout the state.
Upon returning to school children whispered, “When are we going to have Read Aloud Day?” The Reading committee reconvened. Heads huddled together and a decision was made to invite our guest readers on Hat Day.
And so it occured! Our enthusiastic guest readers were greeted by smiling students and staff adorned in wonderful hats of all sizes, shapes and of course, colors galore.
