  • Scholastic Book Fair March 27 - 31 in the Media Center! Please Volunteer!

    The Book Fair is coming!  From March 27 through March 31, we will be having the Scholastic Book Fair in the Media Center from 9:30 to 3:30 each day.  Wednesday, March 29 we will have a morning shopping event from 8:45 to 9:15 for parents who want to shop with their kids before school.  March 30th will be Reading and Math Night, and the Book Fair will be open from 6:30 to 8:30 that night.    Click here to see a preview of the books at the Book Fair.  You will also see a place to sign up to help.  We need lots of help!

    The Health Room is still in need of donations of gently used children's clothes, particularly underwear.

  • Math and Reading Night Thursday, March 30th

  • Kindergarten Orientation April 20th and 21st

     Kindergarten Orientation is set for April 20th and 21st. If you have a child who will turn 5 by September 1st, please call the school for an appointment.  There will be no kindergarten classes on these two days.

  • Hispanic Alliance Scholarship Fundraiser Tuesday, April 25

     We are pleased announce that the Hispanic Alliance for Education (HAE) continues with the tradition of recognizing Hispanic high school graduates who have been identified as Distinguished Hispanic Scholars.  This year our Annual Scholarship Fundraiser Dinner will take place Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. at El Aguila Restaurant, 7926 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20910.   • Important Message from Ms. Kimber

    Dear Parents and Guardians,  I am writing to inform you about an extortion phone scam that is impacting our community. In the last week, multiple MCPS families have been targeted by what is known as a virtual kidnapping scam.  The scam begins with community members receiving a call from an unfamiliar number, often from an international area code.  When the call is picked up, community members have reported that they have heard screaming sounds in the background and a message from the caller claiming that they have the person’s child and intend to do the child harm unless ransom is paid. [Read more about the scam from WTOP.]National and local enforcement are aware of the scam.  The Montgomery County Police Department has provided the following advice:•             Do not wire money.•             Contact your child’s school.•             Contact the police via 911 or on the non-emergency number, 301-279-8000. The FBI has also provided guidance to help community members avoid becoming a victim of this scam.  This guidance can be found at https://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/us-citizens-threatened-by-mexican-virtual-kidnapping-schemePlease do not hesitate to contact our school if you receive this call. The safety of our students is a top priority.

     March 2nd- D.A.R.E. Celebration (Permission Slips are due February 28th)April 6th- $68.00 and permission slips are due for the Philadelphia field trip.  Chaperones must be finger printed and take the online Child Abuse and Neglect Course by April 6th.May 12th- Field Trip to Philadelphia.  Please bring snacks for both bus rides and a bag lunch. June 9th- 5th Grade End of The Year Celebration 5 PM- 8 PMJune 13th- 5th Grade Promotion at 9:45 AM

    Our PTA does so much to support our school.  They fully fund 24 hour access to BrainPop and BrainPop Jr, websites with informative videos on a variety of topics.  Click here to see one of their videos.  You can even take a quiz!  Ask your child or contact Mrs. Safford for the passwords.
