  • Field Day Volunteers Needed for Friday the 27th!

    VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR 3rd- 5th GRADE FIELD DAY:  MAY 27, 2016Dear Parents/Guardians,        The primary focus of Field Day is FUN!  I wish to provide as many activities as possible for the children, so I am going to need your help on Friday, May 27th.  Currently, there is not a rain date!     On the morning of Field Day the children will participate in a variety of stations.  These stations will be in the form of activities such as basketball shoot, rope climb, scooter obstacle, etc.  I will need you from 9:30-12:30 to run the stations.  Please stay and eat lunch with your son/daughter.  The afternoon will consist of cooperative team activities.  I will not need your help at this time, but please feel free to come be a spectator. Click here for a printable form.

  • Volunteer Breakfast Friday May 27th from 8:45 to 9:45

    Have you volunteered at school?  Worked at the Book Fair? Worked as a mentor?  Gone on a field trip?  Helped with PTA?  If so, we want you to attend a reception in your honor.  The staff will be serving breakfast for you in the Media Center on May 27th.  Come in for a snack before going to Field Day!  Click here for more details and an RSVP form.

  • Important End-of-Year Events for Fifth Graders

    Summary of Fifth Grade Events  Mark your calendars!  There are many great events coming up for your Fifth Grader.  Here is a summary list of these events.  

  • Gaithersburg Book Festival Saturday May 21st

     The Gaithersburg Book Festival will be held at Gaithersburg City Hall on Saturday, May 21st.  Many great children’s authors will be there, including Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, author of Shiloh, Fred Bowen, author of many sports chapter books, Aaron Reynolds, author of Creepy Carrots and Carnivores, Cece Bell, author of El Deafo, Dave Roman, author of Astronaut Academy, Alexis Frederick Frost, author of Adventures in Cartooning, Jennifer Choldenko, author of Al Capone Does My Shirts, Katy Kelly, author of Melonhead, and more!  There will also be fun activities for kids.  Go to For more information.

  • Thanks, PTA, for Bringing Us Author Barry Louis Polisar

    Students and teachers enjoyed Barry Louis Polisar's visit on April 21st.  Big thanks to our PTA for bringing us this author.  Since Barry lives less than a mile away, he says he can take additional orders for autographed books or CD's.  Forms are being sent home with students.  Please send orders and payment (checks payable to the PTA) by Friday, April 29th.

  • Pennies for Patients Totals as of April 5

    Burtonsville Elementary School Fundraising Update as of 4-5-16K- $193.07  Grade 1- $479.94  Grade 2-$565.53    Grade 3- $395.07   Grade 4-$208.79     Grade 5-$356.63 Future deposits will be taken to the bank at 3:00 PM on April 8th.There will be a treat for the grade level that raises the most donations for Pennies for Patients!  *The fundraising drive will end on April 8th.
