Media Center

Our Vision:

Media Center staff

Our vision is to provide a comprehensive media program which fosters a love of books and reading while also instilling in students 21st  Century skills to be effective users, producers and communicators of ideas and information.

Mrs. Goodrich, Media Specialist and Mrs. Newman, Media Assistant, are here to help you find a “just right” book, locate an obscure fact about your favorite animal, use online resources to find information, showcase Black-Eyed Susan nominees or to recommend a new book or series.

The BHES Library Media Center houses a collection of about 11,000 books, DVD’s, CD-ROMS, videotapes, audiotapes, and more!  The Media Center is open to students from 8:45 – 3:05 each school day.  The circulation period for student books is one week. Most books may be renewed after the one-week loan period.

Students are encouraged to return a book and check-out a new one before scheduled book exchange times.

Our reading incentive program “Oh, the Places We'll Go” allows students to “earn” a green, yellow or pink sticker for either the number of books or pages read.  We are placing the stickers on a map of the world and hoping to fill the world's oceans with our reading. At this time, we have read almost 1000 books!

Our 4th grade researchers are digging for facts and information about Native Americans.  Find some links to Native American websites here.
