About Us

Home School Model

Belmont Elementary School (BES) is an all inclusive school.  We are a Home School Model meaning that the special education services given to students are administered to the greatest degree possible in the classroom setting.

PAWS and PBIS

Belmont Elementary School uses the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework. We will continue to use the acronym PAWS (People Always Working on Self-Control) because it is known and seen as a positive message throughout our school community.

The PAWS Incentive Program is a school-wide program that is designed to improve the overall academics and behavior of the school environment; therefore improving the success of all students. The purpose of the program is to promote positive success within the school environment and to reward students who do well both academically and behaviorally.

The PAWS Incentive Program focuses on three target behaviors for success. We expect everyone at BES to be: Kind, Prepared, and Safe. Examples of what those positive behaviors look like are on the following page.

As a part of the program, when students demonstrate the target behaviors, they are to be rewarded with a choice between PAWS  Tickets or PAWS Stickers for doing so (using the criteria below as a guide). PAWS tickets are given to students when they are “caught” exhibiting targeted behaviors.  Students turn in the tickets at the appropriate venue in order to have a chance to draw weekly prizes including school supplies, homework passes, additional charms, and cafeteria fast passes.  In addition, a bulletin board will be set up to display the pictures of weekly winners.

It is my hope that we will all work together to ensure that the PAWS Incentive Program is successful.  Parents/Guardians, please encourage your child(ren) to engage in positive behaviors and aim for success.

Baldrige School

Belmont, along with the rest of the county, fully utilizes the Baldrige process for creating and implementing out comprehensive school improvement plan and our integrated management system.  This is a process of continuous improvement through regular monitoring of our data and our systems in place in our school setting.  All stakeholders are involved in this process.
