Step II: Social Consequences

Now that you know the legal consequences of Shannon's drinking and driving, you can assume that the smartest thing for Shannon to do is to stop drinking. This may be easier said than done, however. In this section of the lesson, you will research what resources are available to help Shannon stop drinking and what the social consequences might be if she does not do so.

  • First, look for information that explains the short-term and long-term effects of alcohol use on teenagers.
  • Then read about the connections between alcohol use and poor school performance, suicide and sexual assault.
  • Take notes on this worksheet and bring it back to your youth court coordinator. (If you can't download or you do not have Word on your computer, click "See it online" and print it.) see it online | download it in Word.
