Step II: Social Consequences of Alcohol Use
Now
that you know the legal consequences of Shannon's drinking and driving, you can
assume that the smartest thing for Shannon to do is to stop drinking. This may
be easier said than done, however. In this section of the lesson, you will
research what resources are available to help Shannon stop drinking and what
the social consequences might be if she does not do so.
First,
look for information that explains the short-term and long-term effects of
alcohol use on teenagers. Then read about the connections between alcohol use
and poor school performance, suicide and sexual assault. In the boxes below, write at least three
things you find out about each topic.
