Reflections of a Lad at Sea (slow tempo, keyboard only)
I. Captain's Mate (both)
II. Thoughts of Home (with Mr. Scott's solo)
III. Ghost Ship
I. The Captain's Mate
Sailing in a ship on the deep blue sea, oh the captain's mate am I.
And there's nowhere I would rather be, than by my captain's side.
Oh the sun is bright and the wind's just right, and our sails are hoisted high.
Sailing on a ship is where I'll always be, for the captain's mate am I, am I,
For the captain's mate am I.
Working in the wind and the salty spray, oh a sailor's life is fine.
And I hope I live to see the day when a ship like this is mine.
For I've set my sights on a captain's stripes, but for now I'll scrub and shine.
Sailing on a ship is where I want to stay, for the captain's mate am I, am I,
For the captain's mate am I. Yes the captain's mate am I!
II. Thoughts of Home
Verse 1 (all chorus)
But as I stood beside the sea and watch the ships come in,
A captain offered me a chance that would not come again.
He said that I could join him, to search for lands unknown.
And then I knew I had to leave home.
Verse 2 (solos from the chorus)
But now I sometimes stand alone when all my work is done,
And Scarlet town seems far away beyond the setting sun.
I've lived my new adventures, I've had my chance to roam.
I never thought I'd ever miss home... I wish that we were traveling home.
III. The Ghost Ship
Verse 1
Now listen well as a tale I tell of a night I shook with fear
We were sailing west on the open sea heading home from a long long year.
I was standing watch all alone that night when I heard a wailing cry.
As I strained to see what the sound could be something flashed and caught my eye.
And the cold wind blew.... And the cold wind blew
Verse 2
T'was then I spied off the starboard side a strange mysterious sight
I froze with fear as it drifted near like a ghost in the dark of night.
I could see a sail on a broken mast and deserted decks below.
From all around came a mournful sound but I saw not a living soul.
And the cold wind blew.... And the cold wind blew
Verse 3
Well I held fast to the forward mast as the ship moved slowly on
And I watched that way til the break of day when I knew that it finally had gone.
Oh they laughed and joked as I told my tale to the captain and the men,
But the story's true I can promise you and it's sure to happen again.
Yes, it's sure to happen again.
And the cold wind blew.... And the cold wind blew!
Promotion Song: Go the Distance
I have often dreamed
Of a far off place
Where a hero's welcome
Would be waiting for me
Where the crowds will cheer
When they see my face
And a voice keeps saying
This is where I'm meant to be
I'll be there someday
I can go the distance
I will find my way
If I can be strong
I know ev'ry mile
Will be worth my while
When I go the distance
I'll be right where I belong
Down an unknown road
To embrace my fate
Though the road may wander
It will lead me to you
And a thousand years
Would be worth the wait
It may take a lifetime
But somehow I'll see it through
And I won't look back
I can go the distance
And I'll stay on track
No I won't accept defeat
It's an uphill slope
But I won't lose hope
Till I go the distance
And my journey is complete
But to look beyond the glory is the hardest part
For a hero's strength is measured by his heart
Like a shooting star
I can go the distance
I will search the world
I will face its harms
I don't care how far
I can go the distance
TillI find my hero's welcome
Waiting in your arms...
I will search the world
I will face its harms
TillI find my hero's welcome
Waiting in your arms...
