I am excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Westover Elementary School! I am both honored and humbled to serve the students, staff, and families of Westover Elementary School and to continue the strong tradition of excellence that has been established over the years.
Over the last four years, I have served as the director of school support and improvement for the Northeast Consortium and Poolesville elementary schools. Prior to that, I served approximately seven years as the principal at Stonegate Elementary School. Some of my proudest moments as an educator occurred while I was a school-based administrator, where we built a learning community focused on high expectations and strong relationships among stakeholders. In my 23 years in Montgomery County Public Schools, I have also served as a principal intern, assistant principal, reading specialist, staff development teacher, and classroom teacher. These varied and valuable experiences have afforded me the opportunity to refine my skills as a leader, and strengthen my core values as an educator. I believe in creating strong relationships with students, parents/guardians, and staff, and continually improving myself and those around me. Every day I commit to ensuring that all students are given what they need to perform at a high level; academically, socially, and emotionally. This, too, is the ‘Westover way’!
On a personal note, I am married and have a beautiful daughter, Amia, who is just eight months old. I am proud to be her mom, and to be the step-mother to three, Courtney, Evan, and Collin. I view the school community as an extension of my family and look forward to partnering with you as we embark on a great year together!
