Child Development –

The Rockville High School Child Development / Preschool  program provides an interactive learning environment for preschoolers and high schoolers.

Preschool –

Open enrollment for the following Fall semester begins April 1.  Children must be 4 years old by September 1 and toilet trained.

Tuition cost – $300 per semester (Fall/ Spring)

Preschool Schedule – 7:50am to 11:10am Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

The Child Development Program consists of 3 levels that teach preschool aged children in our classroom at Rockville High School.

Level 1 - Child Growth and Development

Level 2- Learning Environment

Level 3- Child Development Associate Portfolio

Child Development Internship –

High School students enrolled in our advanced level Child Development course will complete an internship at a school outside of Rockville High School. Students must earn 480 hours of working experience to complete the Child Development Program.

Upon completion of the child development intern program, the students should be able to:

  • Identify career opportunities through practical experience;
  • Relate the learning experience of this course to future career and family responsibilities;
  • Plan developmentally appropriate activities for individuals and groups;
  • Implement planned activities with teacher supervision;
  • Demonstrate understanding of development levels of children by individualizing instructions;
  • Apply objective, unbiased techniques in observing and recording behavior;
  • Adapt instructions for children with special needs and for diverse populations;
  • Realize the importance of regular attendance to academic and professional growth, and to the continuity of learning for the children;
  • Recognize the importance of human relations skills and continuing self-evaluation to personal growth and development; and
  • Apply career skills in the workplace.
