PSAT Information

PSAT – October 15, 2025

PSAT School Day will be Wednesday, October 15, 2025. The PSAT and SAT assessments are used to measure students' College and Career Readiness, as well as qualify students for the National Merit Scholarship Program. The PSAT will remain free to all Grade 10 students [first-time Grade 9 School Year 2023–2024]. The PSAT will be taken digitally (not with paper/pencil format).

Every Grade 10 student must participate, except for non-diploma-bound students and students in English Language Development (ELD) Levels 1 and 2.

We have additional activities for students who are not directly involved in taking the PSAT Test. Please see below:

  • Selected 12th grade students will have the opportunity to earn student service learning (SSL) hours, receive support with college essay writing and common college applications, and to receive IB high level math support and research support in IB.

  • Selected 12th graders will have the opportunity to take the Seal of Biliteracy Assessment. The Seal of Biliteracy is an award given by a school, school district, or state in recognition of students who have studied and attained proficiency in two or more languages by high school graduation. Please register below or see Mrs. Chaney in the World Languages department.

  • Selected 9th and 11th grade students who have chosen to participate in the PSAT/NMSQ assessment will take the assessment.

  • grade 11/12 not testing (optional activities):

    • IB/AP and College Essay support in the media center

*Students who are not identified in one of the groups mentioned above will participate in study hall activities until 11:30 a.m. Students, who are not participating in one of the above-mentioned activities and do not need MCPS bus transportation, with parent permission, can report to school no later than 11:30 a.m. to attend periods 6, 7, & 8.
