Reading and Language Arts
Third graders have been doing in-depth author studies. We read many books by a certain author and we also read about the author's life. We enjoy learning what makes authors want to write, where they get their ideas and what each book has in common.
- Some authors write many books about the same characters.
- Some authors use the same setting in most of their books.
- Some authors use animals as main characters.
- Some authors use their children friends as family as models for their characters.
- Some authors write about events that happened in their own lives.
