LIBRARY BOOKS:
As students begin to bring books home, please help them keep track of their library books. Kindergarteners will begin checking out next week but will keep their books in the classroom for now. If students forget their books on their Media day, they can’t get new ones, so it’s important they take their book to school when they have Media! Here is when each K-5 class has Media:
- Monday: Juarez (1), Ramirez (3), Meyer (4), Hewkin (4), Tun (5)
- Tuesday: Andrews (K), Moritz (K), Anthony (3), Park (5)
- Wednesday: A. Williams (K), Wladis (K), Dobrzykowski (1), DeFilippo (2), Hill/Kosofsky (3)
- Thursday: H. Williams (1, Girma (2), Han (2)
- Friday: Vasquez (1), Portillo (2), Hayes (3), Spera (4), Condrey (5), Scarborough (5)
CHROMEBOOK CARE:
Please talk with your students about Chromebook care. Students are given Chromebooks to use at school, and schools are required to charge families if students break their Chromebooks, even by accident. Chromebooks can break easily, and the costs are significant: English Spanish
If your student breaks their Chromebook, you will receive a letter from Mrs. Strain about it, and a charge will be posted to your student’s School Cash Online account for you to pay online. If you want to pay with cash or check (made out to Glen Haven Elementary School), you can do that instead.
Glen Haven’s Chromebook care rules are:
- Carry with two hands.
- Store in a safe place.
- No food or drinks.
- Only use my own Chromebook.
- Remember to keep it charged.
BOOK FAIR:
The Scholastic Book Fair will be October 27-31! Here is the website. Please begin discussing Book Fair expectations with your children (how much money they will have to spend, what they are allowed to buy), and let teachers know if you have financial hardship and can’t send in money for the Book Fair. The PTA has funds to help every student shop. Families are encouraged to volunteer, so we will send a volunteer signup soon.
