Mr. Ed Fisher, PE Teacher

Hi, I am Edward Fisher and I have been the PE teacher at Westover ES for 10 years.  I feel lucky to be the PE teacher for such a wonderful school and community.  I have been a teacher for 25 years.  I was previously a 4th and 5th grade teacher, as well as a science teacher in a magnet school.  Teaching P.E. and helping students improve sports skills and learn to love healthy movement is my favorite though.

I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania and went to Penn State.  I also have a MS in Environmental Science from Johns Hopkins University.   I live in Silver Spring and my wife and I have twin sons who are going to 5th Grade.  We also have a big fluffy sheepdog named Charlie.  In my free time I love to do any outdoor activity or sport, but I also like to spend time reading.  My sons and I recently read a Star Wars book called Thrawn.  It was excellent.

Ms. Jacqueline Durham, Art Teacher

I am the Art Teacher here at Westover Elementary School where I have been for 9 years! Originally from New York, I have been living in Maryland since I began my undergraduate program doing the two things I love the most, Art and Gymnastics. In 2011, I graduated from Towson University where I earned my degree in Art Education all while competing for the TU Tigers. After teaching art for a few years I went on to receive my Master’s in Arts Integration at the University of Maryland. While the students are exposed to the many different art processes, they explore their creativity through the learning of the art elements, design principles, and art vocabulary. I am looking forward to another wonderful school year creating beautiful masterpieces and working with the Westover community!

Mr. Peter Frassrand, Music Teacher

Originally from Detroit, I’ve called the DC area home for almost 30 years. I’ve taught in MCPS schools for 23 of those years, and my kids are products of MCPS schools too. In my classroom, I try to expose kids to many different kinds of music, and to many ways of making music. When I’m not teaching or hanging out with my family, I perform as a jazz pianist around town. And my favorite animals are wallabies and wolverines, the mascots of Westover and the University of Michigan, where I went to college.
