Hello Seven Locks families! My name is Laurie Steinberg, and I am the school counselor at Seven Locks Elementary. It is truly a pleasure to be a part of your community, and I look forward to partnering with you to ensure your child has a successful and positive school year. It is the counseling departments mission that each and every student at Seven Locks Elementary School:
- Feels safe and comfortable
- Is available for learning
- Is able to reach their full potential both academically and socially
Your child may have mentioned to you that I have two helpers within my department named Sammie and Snuggles. Sammie is a Muppet Whatnot Puppet that I made on the FAO Schwartz website. Sammie works with me to cheer up students and make them laugh! He also helps me with lessons for the younger grades, and he even sometimes sneaks into classrooms to make sure the students are focusing on positive interactions by filling their classroom buckets. Snuggles is my big, cuddly bear and he offers "free hugs" to any student in need of one.

At Seven Locks, we have expectations of our students which are reflected in our 5 Wildcat Ways.
Our school wide Bucket Filling intiative supports these five principles.
Please feel free to contact me at any time. I can be reached at 301-469-1038 or Laurie_M_Steinberg@mcpsmd.org.
