Star Program Reward and Recognition Programs

Star Tickets are the basis of our reward and recognition program. Students are given tickets when they dispay one of the four expectations. Tickets may be given at any time during the school day by any staff member. Students may trade their star tickets for chips, either in class or at the banks set up in the morning.  Chips may be used to purchase rewards during class meetings.  Chips may also be saved to trade in for gold chips which are used as admission to Star Program Events.

Star of the Week

Every Friday each homeroom teacher selects one student to be the Star of the Week. This student is selected according to a criteria determined by the teacher or the class.  The Star of the Week will have his/her photo displayed on the bulletin board near the main office, receive a "free seating" pass for the cafeteria and classroom for the week and will be recognized at a monthly Town Hall Meeting.

We've Earned 1,000 Tickets!

When a student earns a chip, he she will color in a square on a 100-square poster in the classroom.  When all 100 squares are colored in, that class will receive a sign to hang outside their classroom.  The classroom teacher and students will select an activity to celebrate their accomplishment.

Gold and Silver Chip Events

Students may trade chips for a gold or silver chip.  10 chips = 1 Gold Chip    5 chips = 1 Silver Chip

A Gold Chip Event will be held each marking period.  These are whole-school events for students who have earned enough tickets and choose to trade their chips in for a Gold Chip.  Two of these events will be held after school and will require students to be picked up by a family member.

Silver Chips will be used for a different special activity; more info later!
