How do I Contact my Counselor? 

  • Tell a teacher and get a pass
  • Tell a parent
  • Come to the Counseling Office
  • See my counselor during lunch

Before school, during lunch, and after school are the best times to come to the Counseling Office so you do not miss instruction.

For Parents

How do I make an appointment to meet with my child's counselor? 

Parents can call 301-670-1410 between the hours of 7:30 and 4:00 to arrange an appointment, or email the counselor directly.

How do I make an appointment with one of my child's teachers? 

To meet with an individual teacher, please call the main office at 301-670-1400 and leave a message with the secretary or on the teacher's voicemail. If you would like to arrange a time to meet with the team of teachers, please contact the appropriate counselor to make that appointment (301-670-1410).

What should I do when my child is absent from school? 

  1. Call the attendance secretary, Tracy Niro (301-670-1400), on the morning of the absence.
  2. The child must bring a note signed by her/his parent to the attendance secretary when returning to school. The note must contain:
  • student’s full name
  • date(s) of absence
  • reason for absence
  • parent’s signature

How can I arrange to get work for my child when he/she is ill? 

If your child will miss 1 or 2 days of school, they can get the assignments from a homework buddy in class or may arrange to get the make-up work from their teachers. If your child is going to miss 3 or more days of school, please call Jessica Hinojosa in the Counseling Office (301-670-1410) and arrange for work to be collected. Please allow 24 hours for collection before pickup.

How can my child receive Student Service Learning Hours?
