RCMS Morning Announcements

Friday, November 17, 2017:

Today is an Early Release Day – School will end at 12:30.  Please make sure your parents know school will be released early and you know what you’re doing and where you are to go when school ends.  Have a good weekend and get outside!

Winter sports - Girls Basketball Tryouts will be on November 28th.  Please see Mr. Maxey in the P.E. office for an athletics packet.

Tomorrow is an Early Release Day – School will be release early tomorrow, November 17th at 12:30.  There will be no after school activities.  Please make sure your parents know school will be released early and you know what you’re doing and where you are to go when school ends.

Do you want to be in the Thanksgiving Parade?  If so, come join the Montgomery County Recreations Depart (EBB) for this free event in Silver Spring.  The event will take place rain or shine on Saturday, Nov 18th.   Buses depart from the Germantown Community enter at 6:30am or from the Watkins Mill High School at 6:55 am.  The bus will return to the same locations after the parade around 1pm.  Earn 5 SSL hours for participating in this fun event.  Permission slips are available in the main office and due by this today.  This event is for middle school students only.

Wednesday, November 15, 2017:

Attention 8th Graders National Jr. Honor Society Members - There will be a meeting for 8th grade members of the National Junior Honor Society in the media Center today after school until 4 pm. This meeting is for 8th- grade members only. Don’t forget to arrange a ride home when the meeting ends at 4pm.

LOST and FOUND – The Lost and Found bin is overflowing!  The lost and found bin is now located in the stairwell in the counseling hallway.  If you think you have lost something Lunch boxes are placed in the lunch bins in the main office. – Please look for your item(s) there before school, during advisory, between classes and after school

Talent Show Rehearsal Tonight - The talent show rehearsal will be held today after school from 3:15-5:30 and will end in time for the activity buses. All those who auditioned need to attend this rehearsal. Please remember to bring any items you may need for the show itself. Thank you and please arrive on time and be ready to perform. Make sure to remind your parents that you are staying for rehearsal and make arrangements to get home after rehearsal ends at 5:30pm.

No experience required. Open to ALL students! And FREE to Participate! It’s getting COLD – The weekend is going to be REALLY Cold – Have you LOST your jacket?  The lost and found bin in the counseling hallway is OVERFLOWING!  Teacher also have small piles of lost items in their classrooms.  Check to see if any of these things are yours.

You deserve a relaxing lunch - Is the lunchroom just a little loud and busy for you? Would you like to enjoy your lunch occasionally in a quiet relaxed atmosphere?  Our first MC Café is happening in the media center on Wednesday, November 15th.  There are only 25 passes per lunch, and they will be available starting Monday morning.  I repeat, Media only has 25 passes per lunch, and they will be available starting Monday morning.

Tell your parents or guardians to forget making dinner and head over to Jersey Mike’s in the Gaithersburg, Kentlands, or Germantown Milestone for dinner and support the PTSA’s fundraiser on its last day!  Flyers ARE needed, so pick one up in the front office and make sure to give it to the cashier. They’re available in both English and Spanish. 15% of your purchases will go back to the PTSA. Thanks for your support and have a great weekend!

It’s Sub Night Tonight - Woo! Hoo!!! Today starts the PTSA fundraiser with Jersey Mike’s at both of their Gaithersburg Kentland’s and Germantown Milestone locations. Flyers ARE needed, so pick up a copy in the front office and make sure to give it to the cashier. They’re available in English and Spanish, and 15% of purchases go back to the PTSA. Thanks for your support!

National Junior Honor Society Info Meeting Tonight - There will be a meeting of the National Junior Honor Society from 3-4 pm on Wednesday in the auxiliary gym. All previously inducted members should try to attend. We will be electing our new executive board and setting the agenda for the year. If you are not already participating in an EBB activity, you will need a ride home after the meeting at 4pm.

Talent Show Auditions are tonight - The sign-up for the RCMS talent show has closed. Thank you to everyone who signed up, we have over 30 acts this year and are thrilled to see the talent our school has to showcase! For those of you who signed up, important information: The auditions are tonight after school in the Auxiliary Gym. They will go until approximately 5:00, but may end earlier. A microphone, speaker, and keyboard will be provided, but please bring any other materials needed for your act!  Plan ahead – on how you will be getting home after the auditions.

Tomorrow is the RCMS Talent Show Auditions – Share talent with the world?  RCMS talent show auditions will be held after school tomorrow, Tuesday, November 7 in the cafeteria and end roughly around 4:30pm. Make arrangements for a ride home.  You need to have signed up to audition. Plan ahead – on how you will be getting home after the auditions.
