About the IB at RCMS:
Roberto Clemente Middle School is a candidate school* for the Middle Years Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Roberto Clemente Middle School believes is important for our students. *Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its three academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), or the Diploma Programme (and in addition the IB Career-related Certificate). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted. For further information about the IB and its programmes, visit http://www.ibo.org.
This is an opportunity to continue the excellence seen within
the walls of Roberto Clemente Middle School while implementing a conceptual and
global approach to teaching and learning. The
application for IB candidacy was submitted on April 1, 2014. We will
spend the 2014-2015 school year continuing to investigate the International
Baccalaureate philosophy through professional development and instructional
implementation. The staff and students of Roberto Clemente Middle School
will be fully prepared to apply for International Baccalaureate Middle Years
Programme authorization on October 1, 2016.
we continue to implement the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate
Programme, we will need to shift how we plan and deliver instruction to students.
Teachers will continue to plan collaboratively, and we will focus on
cross-curricular concepts and units. We will focus on educating the whole
child through the implementation of the learner profiles and increasing
international mindedness. We will continue to plan for
opportunities for students to research topics; students will take ownership of
their learning by inquiring into topics of interest. We will continue to
engage in International Baccalaureate professional development embedded throughout
the school day.
