Mr. John A. Robertson, Assistant Principal
I am a 25 year veteran educator committed to serving diverse communities. The second born child of teenage parents in South Central Los Angeles, I used the light of education to navigate humble beginnings and would go on to graduate from Brown University, where I earned an AB Degree with concentrations in Economics and Sociology. I decided to pursue a career in education in order to help youth unlock doors of opportunity and rise to their full potential. I started my career as a social studies teacher at Harlem Park Middle School, on the westside of Baltimore City. While there, I led the effort to include Algebra in the curriculum by volunteering to teach the class after school. I would go on to serve Baltimore students as a math teacher, Teacher Mentor, and the Founding Director of ConneXions Community Leadership Academy. Most recently, I served as the Assistant Principal of Northwest High for seven years. I hold an MA in Instructional Systems Development from UMBC, and my interest in social emotional learning inspired me to pursue an MSW degree from the UMD School of Social Work.
