NBMS is participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Pennies for Patients Campaign from February 1st through February 26th. Pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, dollars, checks and online donations will be accepted. All proceeds go to help pay for medical research and equipment for children and teenagers with blood cancers. Service club members will be selling Carnation-Grams, hosting Hats ON Against Cancer days, and holding NB’s 2nd annual Stuck For A Buck Day to raise money. Click here for more information. 6th Grade Outdoor Education
When: March 1 to March 3 for students with the last names Abou Youssef-Lee
March 3 to March 5 for students with the last names Leebrick-Zwick
Where: Lathrop E. Smith Environmental Education Center, 5110 Meadowside Lane, Rockville, MD
What: Sixth grade students at each middle school in MCPS spend three days/two nights at one of three outdoor education centers. They are accompanied by their teachers, other school staff, and high school volunteers. Outdoor Education is teaching outdoors that which can be learned better there than in the classroom. The outdoors provides both the content to be learned and the place to learn it. Activities are tied to the MCPS curriculum and engage students in authentic learning experiences.
