Hoover Heating Update

Hello Hoover Families, I wanted to send a quick message out regarding the heat.  As stated in the message yesterday, our heat was up and running at full capacity Monday morning.  This morning we did a temperature check in all of the rooms to make sure we are still functioning properly.  All of our classrooms are registering temperatures at 70 degrees or above.  The temperatures this week are supposed to be getting close to 60 degrees outside!  However, as you know, January and February weather can fluctuate rapidly in either direction.  We will be sure to monitor the temperatures within the building and work collaboratively with MCPS.Stephanie SheronPrincipal InternHoover Middle School

MCPS Schools to close early today 1/8/18

Hello Hoover Families,MCPS has decided to close two and one half hours early today due to inclement weather expected this afternoon.  Students will be released at 12:30M.  In addition, there will be no after school acitivites.  Busses will be running at 12:30PM to take students home.

Message from Principal Intern

Dear Hoover Families,   We have had a lot of inquiries this morning about whether or not the school day will be interrupted as a result of the weather.   MCPS will make a decision about closing schools 2-hours early by 11AM this morning.  As soon as we are notified of any closings I will send a message out to the community with an update on school operations. As you know we have been experiencing colder than normal weather this past week.  This morning, I personally walked the building with building service and worked with MCPS maintenance in order to ensure our heat was up and running.  Last week, any classrooms that had cooler temperatures were offered a relocated space for learning.  In addition, we notified teachers and students that although we typically don’t allow jackets and hats inside the school building, we would make an exception last week to make sure everyone was comfortable.  Hoover Middle School, along with MCPS, is committed to ensuring a safe, healthy, and productive learning environment for our students. If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact the main office at 301-968-3740. Stephanie SheronPrincipal InternHoover Middle School
