Good evening, Farmland families,

It's Staff Appreciation Week! The PTA has organized theme days for this week's celebration honoring our amazing staff! We're hoping students will jump in on the excitement to demonstrate how much we value everything our staff does for our community.

  • #1 Fan Monday - Wear your favorite sports jersey or t-shirt to show our staff you are their biggest fan!
  • Twinning Tuesday - Dress like your favorite staff member! 
  • Wednesday Bouquet - Draw a flower or present a real flower to your favorite staff member!
  • "Thank You" Thursday - Write a thank you note or card to give to a staff member to share how much you appreciate them! Be sure to say, "Thank you!" to each staff member you see throughout the day!
  • Farmland Friday - Wear your Farmland gear or blue and yellow to celebrate our amazing staff and our entire school community!

Fifth Grade Spring Chorus Concert 

Who: 5th Graders who participate in chorus 

When: Wednesday, May 22 - Participants must be at school at 6:40 p.m. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m.

Where: All Purpose Room at Farmland ES

Additional Information: 5th-grade chorus members should wear any combination of black and white

Spring Instrumental Music Concert

Who: 4th and 5th Grade students who participate in instrumental music

When: Thursday, May 16 - Participants must be at school at 6:40 p.m. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m.

Where: All Purpose Room at Farmland ES

Additional Information: 5th-grade chorus members should wear any combination of black and white

All students are expected to be present. Please notify Mr. Poet directly if there are any conflicts. 

Congratulations to the National PTA Reflections Program winner from Farmland!  

Congratulations to Elliott Cheung who received the Award of Excellence for his film, "Hope for a Cleaner Environment" in the Film Production category. You can watch Elliott's film by clicking here. Elliott will have his artwork featured in the National PTA virtual exhibition and will receive a Young Artist Scholarship of $200. Way to go, Elliott!

2024-2025 Kindergarten Registration and Orientation

2024-2025 Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year is now open. Children who will be five by September 1, 2024, are eligible.

Registration will be online through the ParentVUE portal. If your family is new to MCPS, you will need to create a ParentVue account here. For more information about eligibility and the registration process, please visit the MCPS Kindergarten Enrollment webpage. 

Registering your child as early as possible is important. Kindergarten Orientation will be held in the morning this coming Friday, May 10. Only students who are fully enrolled will be invited to Orientation. If you have specific questions you can email our school registrar, Kari Auel at kari_r_auel@mcpsmd.org.

PTA Auction Fundraiser is Live Online!  Bidding ends this Friday, May 10 at 12 p.m.

This is our biggest fundraiser of the year - thank you for your support! The community is welcome to bid on gift certificates for local businesses, summer camps, classes, birthday parties, local experiences, an entire YEAR of Kids After Hours (KAH) care, and memorable Farmland experiences such as Principal for a Day!  Bidding ends Friday, May 10th at 12:00 noon. Go to the auction site to see all the great items:

Spring Festival Family Event and Fundraiser is May 10 

Join the PTA behind the school on May 10 from 5:30-7 PM for the annual Spring Family Event and Fundraiser. Enjoy:

Donation Drive for Harmony Hills Happening This Week

Now through May 10, we will be collecting warm-weather items for adults, children, and babies: clothes, shoes, bathing suits, etc. We will also be collecting baby items like diapers, formula, and baby accessories. Look for the box outside school and at the Spring Festival.

Submissions are open for Scarecrow's Corner 

All students are welcome to submit one or more poems, short works of prose, drawings, or other illustrations for inclusion in Farmland's literary and art magazine. All submitted works will be included, and there is no theme. For inspiration, take a look at last year's magazine: https://www.farmland-pta.org/scarecrows-corner-2.

Email submissions to scarecrowscornerfarmland@gmail.com or drop off hard copies (must fit on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper) in the office in an envelope labeled "Scarecrow's Corner" by Friday, May 24. Include in the email/envelope the student's name, grade, and teacher's name, but please don't include those details on the artwork itself. We look forward to showcasing our Farmland students' creativity!
